Beaver Island’s Waste Management Committee announced this afternoon that the Transfer Station will reopen tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. It had been closed after some of the staff tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement is below.
Beaver Island Transfer Station to Reopen on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 11:00am. Individuals can now resume taking their usual items to the transfer station. Please take precautions as you return to regular use of the transfer station: make sure you are wearing a mask as you enter the station and at all times in the station; handle your own (unless you are physically unable) green bags and other recyclables to limit close contact with staff; try to have the correct money for transactions. Hoppers will remain outside the building for disposal of green bags only. As you know, the transfer station was closed to protect the general public from the spread of the coronavirus; during that time period, and occasionally during other holiday closings, accommodation may be made to essential businesses to dispose of items for the general welfare. Thank you for your cooperation as we work through this pandemic together.
