Long in the planning, this year’s premier event for the Beaver Island Birding Trail is almost here. WoW 2023 kicks off on Friday, May 26, at 5:00 p.m. with a meet & greet reception at the BIC Center. There’ll be an opportunity to meet the field guides and speakers for this year’s event and, of course, time to chat with others interested in the birding opportunities on the Island. If you are new to the hobby or new to pursuing it in the Beaver Island Archipelago, this reception is a perfect opportunity to learn more. If you are a veteran, its a great chance to catch up with old friends and to share your knowledge with others.

Field trips kick off at 7:30 Saturday morning. There are 13 adventures set over the course of Saturday and Sunday with morning, afternoon and evening trips including trips to two outer islands in the archipelago. Sunday afternoon world-renowned Great Lakes birding expert Dr. Francesca Cuthbert will provide a fascinating presentation entitled An Unknown Treasure in the Great Lakes: Amazing Waterbird Diversity. That’s set for 1:30 in the BIC Center Auditorium and is open to all with no admission charge.
