A unique hands-on sailing experience is headed to Beaver Island later this month. The Inland Seas Education Association will bring its 77-foot schooner, the Inland Seas, to Paradise Bay for two special science sails. For three hours, participants will step aboard and become Great Lakes scientists for the day. Families and students eager to learn about freshwater ecology — and sailing — will find this program especially rewarding.
What’s Included
We hear that during the sail, passengers don’t just watch — they join the crew. Inland Seas says you’ll help raise the anchor, hoist the sails, and even try steering the ship. While under sail, they have small groups rotate through a series of interactive science stations.
